Small Work, Big God

Let me tell you what I did yesterday: I picked up socks from under the couch, made dinner out of the weirdest pantry combination (because I forgot to defrost the chicken), answered emails while stirring soup, and put the same load of laundry into the dryer—twice—because I kept forgetting it was there.

It wasn’t spectacular. It wasn’t share-worthy. It was just… small.

And honestly? I wrestled with it. I had big plans for the day. Big ideas. Big goals. But life wasn’t interested in cooperating. I got small moments instead—tiny tasks, barely noticed. And by 8pm, I felt like I’d failed. Again.

But then I remembered this verse:

“Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much.” —Luke 16:10

That hit me.

God sees the small. He uses the small. The socks, the soup, the quiet “yes” to what’s in front of me—even when I’d rather be doing something bigger, louder, shinier.

I don’t need a stage to serve Him. I need a heart that’s willing in the middle of the ordinary.

The enemy loves to whisper that small work is wasted work. That if no one claps, it didn’t count. But Jesus didn’t say, “Well done, good and famous servant. ”He said, “Well done, good and faithful.”

Faithful in the dishes. Faithful in the 10-minute car rides that turn into heart-to-hearts. Faithful in the way I hug my child even after a hard day. Faithful in the quiet yes to what He’s asking.

So maybe today didn’t go the way you hoped. Maybe it was quiet and tucked away. But don’t miss this: Small obedience in the hands of a big God is never small.

He sees it. He multiplies it. He uses it in ways we can’t always see.

So tonight, as you fold the clothes or reheat the coffee for the third time—Don’t underestimate the kingdom work of your faithfulness.

You’re doing beautifully, friend.

Keep showing up.
