I should know—I was flat on my butt in the grass, watching a hawk glide over my yard like it owned the sky. My free-range chickens below? Pecking innocently, oblivious they shared a lawn with a predator. And me? I was over here thinking, I’ll never soar like that bird.

When “Better Than” Becomes “Never Enough”
We see the perfect Instagram post, the successful launch, the polished presentation—and suddenly our messy kitchens and half-written to-do lists feel like proof we’re failing. But whose story are you writing? Not theirs. Your path was handcrafted for you—not for mimicking an eagle’s high-speed swoop.
Contentment Isn’t a Trophy; It’s a Choice
Paul got real about contentment in Philippians 4:11–12:
“I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty.”
He wasn’t flexing a perfect life—he was calling out the lie that we need someone else’s blessings to feel blessed. Grace shows up right where you are: in your tiny wins, your scratch-and-peck seasons, and yes, even in your wobbling first steps forward.
Your Flight. Your Pace. Your Rules.
You don’t need a giant wingspan to make an impact. Maybe your strength is in tending the coop—feeding, cleaning, laughing at the chaos. Maybe it’s in showing up when you want to hide, or speaking truth when it’s easier to stay quiet. Those are real, powerful moves.
Stop measuring your flight by someone else’s altitude. Instead, ask yourself:
What small thing can I own today?
Where is grace meeting me in my mess?
How can I lean into my story instead of envying theirs?
Permission Granted: Soar on Your Terms
That hawk will probably circle back tomorrow. My chickens will keep pecking away. And you? You get to stretch your wings—for your journey, at your pace, in your sky.
